 GARUDASANA  : In modern yoga Garudasana (Eagle pose) is a standing balancing pose asana. It is a combination of two words Garuda and asana. Garuda means Eagle (bird). In the final position of this asana the hands are to be intertwined and placed in front of the chest like a beak of garuda or eagle. This is why this asana is known as Garudasana.

Technique 

  • One should only start the practice of this asana after a proper warm up. 
  • Stand straight on the ground. 
  • Now slightly bend your knees. 
  • Lift your right foot up while balancing on your left foot and cross the right leg over the left leg. 
  • Intertwine both the arms with each other like the strands of a rope. 
  • Place the intertwined hands in front of the chest like the beak of an eagle. 
  • Bend the knees and then try to balance. 
  • Try to hold the posture for at least 15-30 seconds. 
  • Repeat this posture from the other side of the leg and follow the same procedure. 
  • For better results try to do this asana at least 2-4 times.
